Time for some new picks.
Valerie June. She’s a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Memphis, Tennessee, United States. Mixing folk, blues, gospel, soul, Appalachian and bluegrass. Recently she released her first studio album – co-written by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. This is the title track. Darn good.
My second new pick is Icelandic; Ásgeir Trausti. He playes something that sounds like electronic soul or R&B, but is described as melodic folk. You figure it out! (I’d say it sounds a bit like Jamie Woon.) Here’s his live version of “Leyndarmál” from his debut album “ýrð í dauðaþögn”.
Be well, live well!
